Malcha Marg Neighborhood
The Piper of Malcha Marg
Here is a little sample of the sounds of a wandering pipe player in our neighborhood.

A Day Off in Malcha Marg (India Independence Day--August 15, 2019)
Malcha Marg means Malcha Road. The neighborhood, even several streets up, is referred to as Malcha Marg. We like being off campus and close enough to walk to work in ten minutes. A tuk-tuk in a pinch.
This is our street, called F Crescent. These U-shaped drives connect perpendicularly to Malcha Marg and are all named by a letter. On the right are apartments; on the left is an open grassy area, like a very small park.
Just left at the top of the F Crescent, there are restaurants, offices, and a small number of stores. There is always a tug-tuk or two or three waiting for adventures further afar.
There are at least three flower stands on Match Marg, maybe four. Marigolds are especially valued in India to make any occasion "auspicious." Many occasions are seen as renewals and starting points, so being auspicious is a value. At times, they are crushed and pressed against the forehead as a blessing.

A new look for the terrace is coming together.
Wonderfully painted folding chairs and matching small, folding coffee tables.
Nested Tables--These fit inside one another when not in use, like Russian dolls.

A welcome from Holly
F-Crescent Apartment, updated Decor:
Panoramas of the Living Room
Olivia's artwork (and one from Abby Hope)
An Indian "wedding box." Not sure why it is called that. Part of the dowry? Will try to find out.
The box details show a bit better at this exposure.

These marigolds are being dried but I don't know why. Probably something auspicious.
This seems like a good bank to request a big loan.
Firecrackers cause a significant amount of air pollution during religious festivals at several times of year. It is good to see regulations are coming into force. Last year, it is said that more people than ever respected the regulations and limitations. For sure, the air pollution associated with festivals like Diwali was noticeably lower. Of course, there are many factors in the air quality index.
The Amour Bistrot is a lovely, light-filled cafe-restaurant.
A parked tricycle.
India(na) Jones and the Malcha Marg Barricade...beyond which is a strip of small shops.
Diane especially likes banyon trees.
Starting with Misou Soup and Hot and Sour Soup at the Fujiya restaurant, right next to the Amour Bistrot.
We are in the upstairs apartment. All the lights are on for the photo only.
The left is the stairwell, and the space above is the terrace, screened in against insects...bats and monkeys, too! The garden has an enormous mango tree that attracts these flying mammals. Yes, the monkeys here as good as fly.
F Crescent at Night, with "park" on left

A "small" banyon tree in the "park." The area under the trees is grassless. I suppose the trees drop some herbicidal chemical. Plants are powerful competitors.
The "infield" under the lights.

Last walk of the day for Holly
Inside
The photos are taken at night, so the place appears like a cave. I'll take some in the day soon.
Are stuff is out of the boxes, finally. We still need to put things away, put up art work, arrange the furniture, etc.
Marble floors everywhere.
Guest bedroom with Olivia's artwork in packets
I have a bike the same color as the sink and toilet.
The water heaters are tiny and put out nearly boiling water. (We've got a fix for that.) There are seven ceiling fans to keep the air moving.
Holly ponders her next move. To the Kitchen!
The small but functional kitchen was originally to be on an outside terrace. It has now been taken in
Main Bedroom
Holly sends her greetings.
Feeling more homey with the new painted wood furniture! Especially nice to be greeted by the colorful elephant...in addition to Holly.
